Community Outreach staff have assembled kits and portable programming materials to provide portable makerspaces where STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Arts and Math) education is provided so participants can increase their knowledge about new technologies. The goal of the mobile makerspace is to encourage the use of library resources to support each child's growing interest in STREAM activities, STEM-related careers, and lifelong learning. Furthermore our maker activities specifically promote youth engagement in learning about and practicing digital citizenship the safe, appropriate, and responsible use of technology in the digital age.
We include programming on e-textiles, augmented reality, squishy circuits, minecraft, robots, 3D printing and much more.
