Community outreach services support the Library’s mission by bringing programs, services, and resources to the community through direct engagement and collaborative partnerships.
We prioritize outreach to culturally diverse communities; geographically isolated, under-resourced and economically stressed neighborhoods; and groups with barriers to access. Outreach services strives to create and implement library programs that are inclusive and culturally responsive to traditionally marginalized and underserved populations. Services are provided in English, Spanish, and Arabic.
Poudre Libraries’ Outreach Department Mission is to build bridges and break barriers to underserved communities through intentional programming, services, and connections.
Outreach visits involve engaging with the community to promote library services, resources, and programs. This can include setting up informational tables at local events, offering library card signups, and collaborating with community partners that align with our mission. Library staff can host pop-up storytimes, literacy workshops, or provide hands-on demonstrations of digital resources.

These specialized book collections are located in diverse communities throughout the district. All books in the “informal library” are free for readers to take and keep.
The Community Outreach team and library volunteers curate these collections that consist of gently used and donated books as well as brand new materials. Books are in English, Spanish, and other World Languages by request.
If you’re interested in hosting an “informal library” in your institution, please contact Community Outreach at 970-818-4174.
Storytellers travel through the District all year round to share engaging stories, songs, fingerplays, and more! All ages are welcome. Storytimes are hosted at sites that align with our mission and priority communities.
Noches en Familia
Celebrate culture, traditions and community with Fort Collins Museum of Discovery and Poudre Libraries! Noches en Familia is a bilingual literary program that connects the community with the Latinx culture through stories, music, food, crafts, games, and special guests.
Mobile makerspaces use Library resources to support each child’s growing interest in STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Arts and Math) activities, STEM-related careers, and lifelong learning. Makerspace kits and portable programs include virtual reality, squishy circuits, robots, and more. Our maker activities specifically promote youth engagement in learning about and practicing digital citizenship – the safe, appropriate, and responsible use of technology in the digital age. Interested in hosting a Mobile Makerspace? Call us at 970-818-4174.
