Financial Information

Review annual budgets and financial reports.

An annual budget is prepared and submitted to the Board of Trustees for adoption in accordance with state statutes. Prior to adoption, a public hearing is held where comments from the District’s constituents are welcome. The annual budget sets the spending plan and anticipated revenues for the next calendar year. The budget is prepared taking into consideration the goals and priorities of the District and in accordance with the financial policies adopted by the Board or required by state statutes.

An audit of the District’s financial statements is conducted at the conclusion of the fiscal year as required by state statutes. The financial statements are prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and audited by a certified public accounting firm hired by the Board of Trustees.

The Library District contracts with the City of Fort Collins for vendor payments.

Citizens can view District expenses by browsing by department on the Open Book Spending Transparency website.
