Ling Wang is a special kind of library lover – each quarter, she presents “Global Tales: Mandarin” at Council Tree Library to share Chinese culture and language and help teach her kids that “we can be proud of who we are.” Each event, Ling chooses and reads a story in Mandarin Chinese. Afterwards, attendees participate in activities centered around the story. For Ling, Poudre Libraries is the space to be bilingual, a space that she shares with her community.
Ling is also a designer, artist, and mom who calls Fort Collins home. She enjoys an excellent Brandon Sanderson novel and reignited her love of reading in her late 20s with digital books she checked out from the Library. When she isn’t presenting “Global Tales: Mandarin,” she takes advantage of the collections and events with her family at the space to be bilingual.
"I think it's important to expose kids to different languages and cultures to make them see that there are other people in this world."
