Become a volunteer ESL mentor.

Please call the Volunteer Office at (970) 224-6183 to check on current needs and for volunteer event and program opportunities. Do you have a special skill or talent that you think we could use? Let us know!

Who can volunteer?

• YOU can if you are at least 14 years old
• Some jobs need good eyesight and a steady hand
• Others need a strong back (can lift at least 40 lbs)
• All need a friendly, helpful attitude
• Some jobs have a desired time commitment
• Others are a one-time fun event
• If you are 18 years old or older, you must pass a background check

We take volunteers for on-going and one-time assignments. If you need to satisfy educational or court-ordered requirements, just let us know ahead of time. If you are a college student interested in Library Science as a major or a Business or Creative Writing student who just loves libraries, we have limited internship opportunities available every semester. Just ask!

Typical volunteer jobs include:

• Book sale events
• Special events and programs needing set-up, floor assistance, supervision or clean-up
• Computer/technology class and lab assistance
• Spanish speakers are needed to assist our Community Outreach team, which travels off-site for story time events
• Writing and social media help
• Mascots
• Manning booths at festivals and events
• Photography and videography
• Special projects
• Summer Reading Challenge desk help for all levels: Adult, Teen, Children's

You are welcome to apply using our online form. After the form is received, you will be contacted via email for an in-person interview. After the interview, if we are a good match for each other, applicants over age 18 will be required to complete an online background check (background checks are run only on those 18 years old and older, and must be renewed every 2 years).

Why volunteer?

Volunteers are the most important resource a community organization can have. Working for the betterment of the community in which you live is a win-win for you and us! The stereotypical volunteer has changed for the better! We enjoy volunteers who come from all walks of life; teenagers learning new skills, parents and executives sharing lifelong passions, or retirees enjoying new friendships. We hope that volunteers need us as much as we need them!
