Summer Learning with Reading Buddies
Applications for our 2025 Reading Buddies program are officially open! Reading Buddies pairs Little Buddies aged 5-10 with a trained Teen Buddy aged 14-18 for weekly reading practice, writing and literacy-based activities.
Reading Buddies is free of charge and meets in the children’s area of Old Town Library on Tuesdays through June and July 2025.
Apply by May 5, 2025, for priority consideration. Applications may be accepted on a rolling basis after the priority deadline if space allows.
More about Reading Buddies
• Reading Buddies is not a tutoring service. Commitment to attend at least 7 scheduled weekly meetings is highly encouraged. Little Buddies must be accompanied by an adult (parent or caregiver) and the supervising adult is required to stay in the library during Reading Buddies sessions.
• Upon acceptance into the Reading Buddies program, your child (Little Buddy) will be paired with a Teen Buddy, a trained teen library volunteer.
• Space is limited and your participation in the program is not guaranteed. Library staff will notify applicants of their status after applications have been reviewed. until all applications have been reviewed, and we have matched your child with a Teen Buddy volunteer.
